Whittlesea, VIC to Bundaberg, 3 kids & the camper trailer...

Postby Jen D » Sat Jan 14, 2012 11:43 pm

We're thinking about heading up to Bundy around July or August time to visit some family. We have 3 boys, 9, 6 & 3, and we all love getting away but his will be our first big trip :) We thought 3 weeks would be good and other than having maybe 4 or 5 days in Bundy round the middle of the trip, we don't know where to stay & for how long? We love the bush & river camping much more than beach camping, but we've been told that Hervey Bay is a must see, and what's the point in driving to Queensland without doing the whole beach thing. So... We want to get to QLD pretty quickly then spend some time WHERE????? Any tips gratefully received!!!

Hi Jen D yes Hervey Bay is nice BUT most people do the whale season not sure what there is outside whale time but some one else might be able to fill you in. Whales don`t come until September. Do you have a Camps 5 book? it will give you hundreds of places to stay along the way Australia wide they are about $70 maybe pick up an earlier 4 on ebay but well worth it if you are planning a trip like this. So many good places to go,I`m not familar with places further South but Northern NSW up as far as Bundy have some great spots.
The Lord is my shepard,i shall not want......only sometimes.

Camps Australia Wide 6 http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/ is an absolute must have for any traveler and is money well spent. If you are a member of an auto club you can also get it from them at a reduced price.

A visit to Mon Repos turtle rookery in Bundy is also a must see but the time you have chosen to visit is outside the viewing times.

A trip to Inskip Point is an absolute must also. http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/inskip ... index.html

A trip to Tin Can Bay to feed the dolphins http://www.barnaclesdolphins.com.au/

The worst day camping still beats the best day working
