Finding holes in air beds - How to???

Postby megabuff » Sun Nov 16, 2008 10:55 pm

hi all

any one know how you can find where a leak is in an air matress?

I put it in the pool and tried to find the bubbles, no luck, but is definatly leaks though, cause it nice when i turn in for the night and its not so nice in the morning.

I thought of filling it with water and looking for the leak that way, but am worried that any water left inside it could be bad!

There is a spray you can get that will bubble when it is sprayed on an air leak. Or you could try putting your ear to the surface and slowly moving around.... That will work... you will look like an idiot but it will work..

We have just found a leak in our inflatable mattress. You need to take the mattress outside and blow it up fully. Get a large container of soapy water (washing up liquid does the job) and wet the airbed to see if the escaping air is making bubbles. We used a spray bottle at first but found it easier to slosh the water on and wipe over the bed with a hand. You can also hear a high pitched squeak which is the air escaping through the water. Check the seams and values first.

Good luck in finding the puncture.
