No these pegs are made from a strong composite material and will penetrate very hard ground but draw the line at rocky ground..they are specially designed for guy rope use only, they also make them from Stainless steel these really are the cats whiskers, but very expensive as tent pegs go $27AUD for 4 but will last until you loose them they were made originally for holding light aircraft down but now used in the UK in any type of ground for guy-ropes only. $27 is cheap insurance when you get an unexpected storm, and from what I read you have your share in Australia as well as that red ball in the sky, we over here in the UK see now and again.
