sleeping pads

Postby aniccia » Thu Aug 17, 2006 7:32 am

Greetings
I am in thee progress of buying a sleeping pad.
Having researched a few, it seems that the most suitables are

1. Insulmat x-lite mountain, short,
2. Thermarest LE, short
3. Exped - downmat7, short
4. Exped - Sim light CF7, short

Now - my main requirement is kind of softness - having arthritis in the hip and ease of deflating and inflating.

Any suggestions and experiences are most welcome
Kindly

I got no idea going by brand names, but have found the only way to choose is roll er' out in the store, and laydown. Take your time, dont be embarassed :armsup . They usually aren't cheap so you want to make sure.

My swag came with a really thin one, it's OK but not great. So I went to clarke rubber and got another, thick foam one. Now its like sleeping on my own bed :armsup :armsup Cost ~$70 though  but it was worth it.

I've got one of the Katmandhu (sp?) self inflating ones. They are great for my son in the camper trailer as he has a camp bed and the matress gives him extra comfort.

The only thing with it being self inflated is that if you are going to put it on the ground I'd suggest one of those foam roll out pads that I think you are talking about. The two together should give you a comfy nights sleep and with the pad underneath this should aid against punctures.

Hope this helps.

I didn't start the thread for the "Funny Stories" thread but still have an edit button ... I feel so underprivileged!
