TAS - Strahan Caravan & Tourist Park

Postby MrsEmbi » Tue Apr 15, 2008 1:24 pm

We spent two nights here over Easter.

We had booked the “group” area to fit 10 sites which all sounded fine on the telephone. To our surprise when we arrived there was another tent right in the centre of our “group area”. The office staff were most unhelpful commenting “well we cant tell people where to camp”, the fact that we had booked our sites 9 months prior didn’t seem to matter.

Other than the mix up with the camp areas the Park was clean and tidy, and well maintained. The sites were not clearly marked (except for the caravan sites) and were pretty much a camp ‘wherever’ arrangement.

Older amenities blocks but kept very clean with the shower block separate to the toilets. The Camp Kitchen & BBQ area again were very clean with vending machines near the BBQ and a TV & microwave in the camp kitchen. Very expensive general store just across the road.

Talking to other travellers it seems that there are more campers than parks in Strahan so they seem to adopt a pretty much take it or leave it attitude.

Ohh silly me I was under the impression that park management done stuff like.. well manage! Being a camper in the midst of a large group would have been akward for all involved. the staff should have just asked the person to move and if they felt that was inconvient they could have offered to help move them.
Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.
