Running fridge on gas

Postby cumminscampers » Fri Sep 28, 2007 11:03 pm

Hello there.

Just after some thoughts on running a 3 way fridge on gas.

We have always ran fridge on 240v & now want to go bush & need to run fridge on gas.

Not to sure on gas usage? Is it worth doing? Wandering if anyone runs their fridge on gas.

I always run it on gas when I'm camping - except when there is a 240 volt source. It works very well.

Ran fridge today to see how it goes on gas & the fumes/smell is terrible.
I think I need to rig a 12v fan into fridge area & try to expell fumes out side.

Shouldn't be any fumes. I had one for over ten years and never had fumes from it.

Are they gas fumes???

No they arn't gas fumes. Hard to describe but it is like heat related motor smell but it is strong. I am going to leave running for a few days to see if it improves.

The fridge is a couple of years old but only ran on 240v. Maybe the gas side off things is bedding in???? Oh well see what happens.

Ahhhhhhhhhh I thought it was new. I think what it is doing is burning all the accumulated dust out. See how it goes.

Its just the smell of using it for the first time. Had the same thing with mine. I'd try it again as you say and see how it goes.
