Cup weekend...where are YOU going?

Postby MSkinner » Sun Oct 28, 2007 2:19 am

I figured it's one of the most famous Aussie "semi" long where is everyone else going? We're deciding between a coastal camp/surfing weekend, or an inland motorbike/camp weekend somewhere up near Bonnie Doon, Vic.

What's everyone else doing? (if you're actually GOING to the races, no need to reply!)

2 questions -

1st- Do Victorians get a public holiday for Melbourne Cup?
2nd- Are there any horses actually able to race in the Cup?

Yes they do get a public holiday for cup day.
Yes horses will be racing ,all but Queensland horses I'd imagine. Then again I dont follow the horses ,all other states still are having race days.

We most certainly do get a public holiday and lots of people manage to make it a 4 day weekend.

As far as I know there'll be horses actually running in the cup.

As for what we'll be doing, bloody nothing.

Yep cup weekend

Sat, Sun and Tues - with Monday annual leave.

Though the construction industry has monday and wednesday off as RDOs as well

I've got a wedding on the saturday so I'll most likely head to inverloch either after the wedding or on sunday
A place I'd rather be...

I don't work so holidays don't effect me much, except as times to avoid going to busy camping spots on. Wouldn't have noticed the holiday most likely if you hadn't mentioned it though. 8)

Wasn't there something happening with some footy match recently too?
