Your top three free camping locations in Victoria

Postby andrewandrew » Fri Nov 16, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi,

I am new to camping. I want to impress my girlfriend by going somewhere beautiful for the weekend.

I would be eternally grateful if you list your top three free camp sites in VIC, how far they are and how close your neighbours are. A couple of metres is too close, anything more than that is fine!

Family feel is okay too of course, and much better than drunken debauchery. Did anyone read that article in The Age the other day about camping with people doing doughnuts and running generators all night? I want to avoid that kind of nightmare if possible..

Anyway your top three free in VIC would be fantastic!

Hi I'm in Melbourne (North East).. but nothing is too far :) Gippsland, as in Wilsons Promontory or somewhere else?

At the moment my top two are Bear Gully and Doctor's Creek Reserve, would love a couple more suggestions like those..

Well, I'm back from my 2nd camping trip ever. I realise camping is different to how I always thought it would be. There were many many camp sites in the national park we were in, so it would be difficult to recommend just one. But we had a fantastic time secreted away in lush rainforest. Amazing. It was the Eildon national park that we were in.

Hi Andrew, we usually camp up near Eildon, Jamieson, Erica area's.

Although haven't been camping for a while now, need to get back into it.
