I got the feeling they got most the info out of the "camping in queensland" booklet.

I raced home last night thinking the paper might have already been thrown out....it wasn't, but like you all say 'what a disappointment'??

I personally thought the overal feature was lacking and definitely written by a non camper.

I wrote a rather lengthy email to Michael suggesting they run an article on camp oven cooking. Gave him some details and offered to provide information and photos etc but he didn't even give me the courtesy of a reply. Very disappointing.

Seems that newspapers don't listen to the general public anyway.

Like a mojority of businesses around, try to get a much profit as cheap as possible, at the expense of product. The courier mail used to have good editorials and articles written by the paper. Now anything decent is sourced from other papers. Same as current affairs shows, they used to be hard hitting and people used to be a lot more informed, now they are virtually visual tabloids

Got my Qld Parks & Forests book from the CM today and there is nothing new in there from what I can see at a glance.

It is 'free' though....

Its a QNPWS marketing publication, promoting recreational use (not just camping) of Qld National parks. I thought it was well put together, especially if you haven't spent much time in the parks. Much better the CM publication.

NSW NPWS also put out a similar publication.

Agreed! I really need to get to #7 Fort Lytton in the Bris/GC section. Been meaning to go for ages.

got my copy of the QNPWS booklet and for a return camper it has helped in giving me ideas of my next trip which brings me to another question. has anyone stayed at burrum cast national park recently and what are your thoughts? i would normally choose a place that has safe swimming for young kids and be a great fishing spot. sorry to take it slightly off topic :) .

At least it is a better effort than the 100 camping spots the newspaper did.
