Holiday suggestions ..... ??

Postby Chippy76 » Tue Feb 19, 2008 7:06 pm

Okay folks .... heres the deal. I'm thinking of taking a driving holiday over christmas, and I'm keen for some suggestions. We live near Warwick QLD and are thinking of heading somewhere a little different for a holiday. I was hoping to take 5 or 6 days, and possibly stop in different places over night , returning to home in a loop. What I'm looking for is suggestions of places you have been to, or know of, that you think are well worth visiting, in QLD and NSW. I'm taking the wife and 3 kids (15 months, 4, and 9) so great distances prob arent a great idea. All ideas are appreciated as im kinda stuck for ideas ... Cheers :D

Me! I certainly wouldn't head west over xmas. What about a touring holiday from Warwick to coffs harbour down the coast staying off the pacific h/way as much as possible and then back via Armidale glen Inness
Nice variety of scenery and plenty of chances to cool off in the ocean. Not to mention nice cool mountains and lush rainforest's.

Im trying to stay away from the beaches and crowds over summer ... I want my boys to see the beauty taht Aust posseses ... not just all the trendy touristy spots. Im not a big fan of Holiday parks and over commercialised beach spots ... So west seems like a nice option ...

I hate crowds also. thats why I stay off highways as much as possible on touring holidays. Its amazing how different things are a few kilometres off the beaten track.

All in 5-6 days?

Damn you where too quick  (or i was too slow?)

I made a new one to show what I mean, but changed it to not include any coastline since he said they want to avoid it.

Cuts through some pretty famous places:

Might still need to cut out a few stops to do it in 6 days though. Maybe get rid of that northern detour.

That would be a good trip! provided of course there isn't a heat wave on.

There are enough attractions in Broken Hill to keep you there for weeks. A tour out to Silverton is a must as is an afternoon/sunset at the sculpture park. Mootawinjie National Park is really pleasant with good camping facilites. Kinchega National Park at Menindee has wonderful riverside camping. Each site is 100's of metres from the next along the Darling River. Would be intersting to see if there is any water in the Lakes now. White Cliffs is worth a look and then over to Tibooburra and out to Cameron's Corner ( why? because its there). Milparinka is also worth a visit. So may places and so little time eh
