The River Camp at Hawks Nest,NSW

Hi everyone I am a new member and think this is a great little site.
We are avid campers and have found a great place at Hawks Nest.
Its called the River Camp and can get quite full on public holidays which are probably the times to avoid. But in saying that there is heaps of room and you can find a quiet little nook. Its a camp anywhere you like kind of situation. There Is water provided and composting toilets, rubbish bins.
You can camp right on the river and dolphins often make their way up and down the river. There are lots of shady trees but there are signs to say you camp under them at your own risk. It is $15 a night per car.
There are no showers but we are set up with our own so we don't mind or you can use the showers at the main beach surf club loos(cold only).
This is a great location if you are set up for beach fishing and beach 4WD.
To get to the river camp you turn left as you you come into Hawks Nest from Tea Gardens. It is about 2klms down that road and before you get to Mungo Brush.
We saw goannas when last there and have also seen dingoes oh and lots of dolphins.

Had a bit of a drive around in there when I was staying at mungo a few years ago, looked like a great place but there where soooo many people  I guess thats a good sign in itself, if it wasn't such a good spot no one would be there.

It is always packed on public holidays and there can be a few yahoos at that time but otherwise it is not that crowded these days.
We went this weekend and it was nice and quiet. But when we went on Australia day weekend it was packed and certain campers were playing AC/DC till 3 or 4 in the morning and then proceeded to get up early in the morning and continue partying. Must admit I was pretty fed up with them. I'm not a partypooper but after 12-1 am everyone needs their sleep.
