Does anoybody know how to make ice last longer in the esky? A friend mentioned something about ice but was unsure of what exactly salt does? Does anybody know? or can offer some tips to prolong the ice age?

My dad used to throw salt on his ice when he went fishing, it supposedly lowers the freezing point of the water?

I googled "how to make ice last longer" & got 3,020,000 results :***

Salt makes ice melt QUICKER. Its use with ice, however, is to cool other things off quickly. Cause things cool in icy water quicker than they will just amongst solid ice. So, if you want a cold beer really quickly, throw some salt and a bit of water in with the ice/beer. But the ice won't last as long.

To prolong ice, see abovementioned thread. I can't be bothered typing it again :***
