Where is your favorite camping spot

Postby Redback » Wed Jul 23, 2008 2:39 pm

So as the title says, do you have one that you keep going back too, or do you have a couple and can't say which is best.

Tell us where it is and if you like a pic as well.

I have a few, some it's only because of the season, some places are just too crowded in certain times of the year, we are winter campers so most of the places we go are free and also can be very crowded in the warmer months, also the type of camp can play a part too, for instance whether it's just a relaxing weekend or whether it's a driving and exploring weekend.

So where is it

I am with you Baz, I have a number of 'favourites'.

Island Reach at Imbil; Andrew Drynan Park on Lions Road south of Beaudesert; Rossmore Park at Kilkivan; Levuka northern NSW and Spring Gully Stays Canungra are probably my most favourite.

Yep, more than one for me as well.

Flat Rock (Ballina), Boreen Point, a friends farm at Tyalgum overlooking Mt Warning, Mt Cowley in the Otway Ranges, and along the banks of the Murray around Corowa or Echuca (long time since I've been but I'm itching to get back).

I'm at the other end of the spectrum, not so much 'greenery' here, just dirt, dirt and more dirt with the occasional saltbush thrown in, but it's my favourite hands down.
It's on the Darling river anywhere between Wilcannia and Menindee.
Rarely do you have to share a campspot here, there's a main camping section where Lake Pamarmaroo, Lake Menindee and the Darling meet, but still you pretty well have the place to yourself.

Have you stayed at Mays Bend, we stayed there on our Simpson trip, i was very impressed at how quiet it was and very clean too.

Very nice, is funny how all that campsites along the Darling all look the same
I like that one, as the banks are not quite as steep as further downstream.
