Northern NSW camping ideas?

Postby battlecrumpet » Thu Sep 25, 2008 9:19 pm

In early November we're going to do a week of wandering round northern NSW in between Brisbane and Port Macquarie. Really looking forward to it.

I haven't spent much time in that part of the world to date.
So does anyone have any suggestions on great places to camp or National Parks worth visiting?

We don't have a 4WD so that's one constraint. We do have a one-year-old boy and a tent :)

TIA

Minnie Water is a lovely spot and isn't usually crowded in non holiday times. The camp ground is right by the beach. There's drop toilets, water, but no shower facilities. Wood is provided for the fireplaces.
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt - then it's bloody hilarious!

Moonie Beach Coffs Harbour, great spot right beside the beach. Brooms Head just out of Yamba. Some great places along the Clarence river. Mt Warning has a good park then you can climb the MT as well.

Thanks!

Minnie Water does sound nice (was just reading up about it), I love spots that are a bit secluded. Camping the the NP looks good there. Washpool / Gibraltar NP also look interesting.

Clarence River sounds interesting too - just found out about the Clarence River Wilderness Lodge which sounds like fun, though we don't have a 4WD.
If anyone has recommendations for where else might be good to camp on the Clarence River, let me know :)

I nearly forgot my favourite spot - Flat Rock Tent Park at Ballina. The website is http://www.bscp.com.au/
