My wife found a camping ground at Lake Maroon called Camp Lake Fire just wondering if any one has been there and could give me an idea what to expect. :?:

Some national parks have long waiting lists for camping reservations.

Yes,
It seems to be set up for groups but we are planning to go simply as a family.

I have emailed them and asked that very question.....have yet to receive an answer. I noticed that there were no tariffs posted so I also asked that question as well.

They do make mention of 9 unpowered campsites with individual campfire pits and access to all the amenities but nothing more.

Maroon Dam is currently at 70% capacity which would make it a very nice place to camp.

Here is the reposnse that I got from my email to Camp Lake Fire.

Note the request for pre booking & pre payment. I have asked for clarification on what exactly this might entail & will post the response. Probably a little expensive for unpowered sites!!
Mum, Dad & 2 kids under 12 = $50 a night:-((

More info re Camp Lake Fire.

Yes it is pet friendly but with a $50 bond per dog and some form that you have to sign & lots of rules. Now in itself rules do not bother me but when I come across a place with heaps of them I do wonder what has happened in the past and why the manager feels the need to put so many rules into play. It is often a warning sign of maybe something else, or at least it is to me.

Below is their response to the pets question

Yes we do allow dogs under very strict conditions with a $50 conditionally refundable bond if any of the conditions are broken. The dog must be on a leash AT ALL TIMES, it must be kept at your campsite AT ALL TIMES (you are prohibited from taking it into any of the public areas, the BBQ area, amenities, or near the Conference Centre or cabins) you must clean up after it, and it must be kept quiet. We have a form for the guests to read and sign before setting up camp.

Next question was in relation to prepayment.

Payment is required at the time of booking to secure your booking, preferrably at least a week before desired booking date.

We don't have credit card facilities, you are able to make an Internet deposit or at a Bank.
