Looking for suggestions - Port Macquarie to Yamba

Postby amanda » Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:27 am

I'm looking for good spot to go for a week in late April somewhere between Port Macquarie and Yamba. I'd prefer something by the water, power would be a bonus but not necessary, and doesn't need to be pet friendly. Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that it needs to allow campfires - it will be getting a little nippy at night by then.

Hi Amanda,

We spent a couple of days at Woody Head Camping last year - we would have stayed longer but had crappy weather. It's located just outside of Iluka, which is across the river from Yamba.

It's pretty much right on the beach front, and caters for camping and caravan's. Not 100% sure about camp fires, but I think at the very least there is a communal camp fire pit - there may be individual camp fire pits as well, can't really remember.

Nice spot, will be camping there again if we ever happen to be in the neighourhood.

(We were there mid week so there were plenty of available sites, but I think it can be busy on weekends, so you may want to book ahead).
Cheers

Well the place I can't stop raving about is Delicate Nobby, between Crescent Head & Port Macq. www.delicatenobby.com.au

Looks like a good spot - I think we'll give it a try.

I have to agree Delicate Nobby is great, but you do have to travel on unsealed roads.

I can also recommend Grassy Head, near Scotts head. Brillant!

I also have to agree about Delicate Nobby....just brilliant.

Now skye....can you tell me please if Grassy Head is pet friendly?? I suspect it isn't as Scotts Head is not pet friendly......had a look at it late last year with a view to stopping over.
