Postby Ozzycamperboy » Fri Sep 16, 2005 8:08 pm

I took the liberty of deleting posts that where just advertising porno sites. As for sum reason i seem to have admin/moderator privledges (not that i mind :D ). Is this site still technically running or what??

Thanks, Ozzy yes, that porn can be a pain. I have bit of a vacation but I am back. Yes you did have an account with admin privileges not sure how that happened, have you as moderator for hang-gliding and natural camping does that sound about right?

I played around a bit and i think i made myself mod i all forums :D , but the only one i would sorta hang around on a regular basis is the generall camping one. I wouldn't mind helping out with it if you like. I also think there are too many different forum sections, maybe stick to just a few :?: but thats just my suggestions :D . A 4x4 section would be good though, maybe Genereal chit chat, and trim some of the ones that have no or very few recent posts, like the astronomy one, fishing, rock climbing, all got 0 posts :?

i frequent about 3 different 4x4 forums and i find it much easier to browse with less sections, and would like to see a generall camping forum like this but it needs more members :D

Camping forum

Postby Activity_Dept » Sun Sep 18, 2005 11:54 pm

No worries, I had to get in and tidy things up a little anyway so it got me motivated. So I took your advise and reduced a number of forums, merged a few, deleted a few etc. Set you up as moderator for camping and 4Wdrv, don't feel obligated but it will help having someone keeping an eye on these.

Yes the membership thing is a problem, they come and go would like to get a few groups going and build the momentum so always happy for your ideas.

House Keeping

Postby Activity_Dept » Mon Sep 19, 2005 2:52 pm

Yes probably a little easier to browse now. The forum actually has over 7,000 members as when someone joins as a member of camping or the 'meet an outdoor type' dating section an account is created for the forum with the same username and password. However most don’t realize this and/or don’t know how to use the forum. In addition we had a few password problems in the past which prevented a number of people from continuing to use it after first post, hopefully I have that fixed up now so yes would be good to get a little activity happening. I will try to promote it a little more once I am sure these technical problems are sorted out. Thanks for you interest.

These password problems you speak off. are they the fact that it doesn't work anywore.

I cleared all my cookies and wiped out everything in my monthly clean up computer thiny and now I can't access the site. It won't recognise my email address to resend a new password to.

Is there anything you can do?

Password

I have checked the camping membership list and did not find an account under your forum username or email address. If you have used a diffren't username and email please click 'forgot password' under the site login box from the login menu (top of homepage) and enter these details. Otherwise you may need to set-up a new account.

Is this still the case? If so, why? There is no technical reason for doing this, and is it in the registration T&Cs, because I don't see any mention of it! I don't want my email address recorded on another forum that I didn't agree to join!
