Ok Ok this topic is more directed at Derek as he is our resident camp oven guru.
My question is as the topic suggests...
How to season a camp oven.
I'm looking to get a new (smaller) camp oven and i wanted to know if I seasoned my big camp oven properly...
I cleaned the camp oven firstly with luke warm water and a bit of steel wool
Then I dried the camp oven and then placed it into the oven to get hot for about 30 minutes then i took it out of the oven and allowed it to stand for about 10 minutes then I covered it in Vegetable oil inside and out till it had a nice even coloring then placed it back in the oven for another 30 minutes then pulled it out and gave it another quick glazing inside and out with the vegetable oil then let it stand. till it cooled then paked it away - I've since used it to cook a pork roast and some muffins and they have all turned out well (expect the pork I burned the crackling by letting it get too hot to early on)
Did I do ok? Should I do my next camp oven different?
