The only lights I have are on my tree, however I unfortunately ruined someone else's Christmas decorations this morning (my cheeks are still burning with embarassment)!

I went to my local newsagent to buy the morning paper. There was a large queue of people so I just stood waiting my turn. When it finally got to the lady in front of me she asked for 48 scratchies and asked for them all to be put into individual envelopes. Realising this was going to take some time, I checked my wallet and realised I had the correct change for the paper. I got the money out and asked the lady behind the counter if it was OK just to leave the money there. Sure, she said, so I leaned over to put the money down. As I drew my arm back distater struck. In what seemed to be very slow motion I watched in horror as a 3 foot ceramic santa went flying off the counter - and worse still it was heading for the nativity scene in the corner of the store! With an alimighty crash it completely destroyed the nativity scene and there were pieces of flying Santa everywhere. Amid the silence that followed one bloke just piped up with "Well, there goes Christmas". I don't think I'll be visiting that newsagency again in a hurry, and I hope killing Santa doesn't come back to haunt me!

Amanda I told my 2 boys what happened between you and santa the other day. They spun around and said is that lady going to go to jail. Did the police take her away.
:$ :$
You should have seen the look on their faces....Talk about crack me up. I had tears rolling down my face I was laughing so hard. My youngest boy went and got the box of tissues and said it's ok, dont cry. All I could do was laugh even more. They thought that you killed the real santa. I must say Amanda that this is one that will go down in your history. Thanks for being so brave and telling us your story. It's the most funniest thing I have heard of for ages.
Cheers

We have put the lights up on the house this year, started in November bit by bit so it would not be a big deal all at once.

Just the usual:
Icicle lights on the gutters
Lights around the windows
Reindeer in the garden
Santa climbing the chimney
Santa & snowman on see-saw.
lights along the garden beds
lights on the carport.

That should do for this year. Next year we will add rope lights to the roof.

My wife has started to notice people standing out the front talking late at night. She says, "It sounds like they are on the front door step".
We turn off the lights at 10pm.

Glad you enjoyed it Chick! I hope your kids now realise that the real Santa is alive and well to deliver their presents.

In a futher instalment of the story, a lady I work with went to the same newsagency yesterday and asked the woman behind the counter where her lovely Santa and Nativity scene had gone. Her reply - "I'm devastated - Some stupid woman came in here last week and smashed it into a million pieces"! No I'm REALLY never going back there! :-bang
