Campsites Packed after New Years?

Postby Art » Wed Dec 26, 2007 3:20 pm

Hi Guys,
I want to take a party camping very early January,
and always prefer a quieter place.
I imagine this is the busy period for the drive in vehicle based camping sites?

Somewhere like Flannighan's or Bigriggen iat Mt Barney maybe have the room.
What about Border Ranges? Is it likely that Sheepstation Creek and Forest Tops would be both full, so you'd have to turn around?
Or Crow's Nest, there is also limited alloted space.

Art, you can check out the numbers booked in the Qld national parks on line. Unfortunately not Crows Nest. You will find most of the ones away from the coast will be quiet. Peach Trees which is a popular ground only has at the moment about 30-40 out of the 400 allowed.

You can have Spicers Gap to yourself at the moment.

I'd keep an eye on the weather though, as it might be wet and real windy next week.
