Where to get a can cooler?

Postby Art » Thu Dec 27, 2007 3:30 pm

Hi Guys,
Once I got a can cooler from Auldi, and it was great.
Does anyone know where I can get another one from a retail outlet in Aus?
I know there are many similar ones out there with different brand names, etc.

The above link is what it looked like, but I paid a lot less for the same thing.
Thanks, Art.

Ps, I have tried an 18 Litre cooler that also uses a Peltier device,
but was very dissapointed with that one, and figured it would be better
to cool one can at a time.

Dick smith, tandy, supercheap, repco. They are pretty common. I KNOW DSE had them, the others are just a guess. Can't find a single one on their site now though, smallest is 5.5L now :?

Or better yet, get these suckers ebay link

10 of them. Make your own. Can't imagine the bought ones having more than 2 or 3, 10 would keep it nice and cooooool 8)

Actually, I've tried DSE, Tandy, and Supercheap today, and none of them have the single can units.

Who's to say I haven't made one?

The commercial units usually use only one Peltier device,
but there's more to it than sticking it to a can and hoping the drink gets cold.
You have to have a surface that mates with the can, the can has to be insulated,
and the reverse side of the Peltier requires heatsinking.

It's easier and cheaper to buy one than to make one.
They are on eBay in the plenty, but I was hoping to locate one sooner
than the delivery would take.

As long as your insulation is good using any more than one Peltier is just wasting power.
They will cool quicker, but no colder.
