Qld Easter School Holidays

A place to talk about anything well just about anything (this is a family show remember).

Qld Easter School Holidays

Postby Troyk » Sun Jan 06, 2008 7:05 pm

Started thinking about Easter Holidays and my wife has just discovered that the Easter School Holidays are not adjacent to Easter.

The Easter Weekend is 21 to 24 March

School Holidays start on 5 April, two weeks later.

Just in case you didn't pick it up.

Might be the same in other states.

Yeah I had found that out - a bit silly but apparently it is to aline all states to the same holiday period?!

Have a look at this site. The Vic's have got the week off straight after Easter.

Just proves that it doesn't make sense. At least it would have made some sense if we were trying to align with other states. I suppose thats an opportunity to go away twice.

I wouldv'e thought if the states staggered the school holidays it would be a lot better for the tourism enonomy. instead of places being totally booked out for 2 weeks, they could just be full for 5-6 weeks.

My kids are in a private school - I have only looked as far as Easter but it is a week after the actual Easter weekend.

That would be if someone with some common sense made the decisions on such things.

Thank heavens Troy is on top of it, cause I would not have known either if it were not for his post.
