Couldn't agree more. I recall that feeling when I got the camper trailer and made the comment, the air bed and sleeping bag have gone to be replaced by a queen size mattress and doona.

Well Derek I never did do the sleeping bag bit and I sometimes feel that there were times when I actually had a better nights sleep on the air bed than I now do on the innerspring mattress.

However, when I look back at my very first camping experiences in the back of the old 40 series Landcruiser I know I have definitely travelled a great distance.

With what is available these days and the cost of setting up even a basic camp one would never need to 'rough it' unless it was a matter of pure choice.
