OMG I so miss fritz.....it's sort of like the lunchon rolls but a different taste. A fritz bung is the ones you get out of the butchers or cold meat area of supermarkets. hmmmmm fried fritz on toast yummmo...not just kids love it. While in Adelaide i managed to grab a Yuross made by the same little fish n chippy i use to go to when i was a teen. God it was so nice. Lots of places only have Kababs up here in QLD and they suck and not like a Yuross at all.

There's a Greek cafe in Hill End which makes Yuros (?Yeeros) ... it's more of a Greek dish I believe. In the dim distant days of my Sydney childhood, we had a sausage of indeterminate contents called 'Pork Fritz' and this just after WW2 when anything vaguely-German was usually renamed. There's some awful stuff (a bit like camp pie in a roll) called 'Devon' and 'Strasburg' and the there's an Italian-inspired sausage 'Mortadella' which is soft in texture like the Fritz. They don't resemble salami or wurst, though.

It's called polony in WA and it's more or less the same as American baloney.

That creatively-named suburb between Highgate Hill and West End - inner southside of Brisbane and used to be a Greek-inspired area. It's a bit more international these days and no longer a working-class area.
