Your perfect camping location

Postby MDC » Fri Jun 18, 2010 11:16 am

Well I'm sitting here dreaming of the next adventure and it has me wondering... what is the perfect camping location?

Here's a list that makes up mine:

- Within 3 hours of Brisbane
- On the banks of a river (salt water preferred)
- Fishing and crabbing possible from the river bank
- Dog friendly
- Quiet, but not isolated - we still like the social aspect of camping around others
- Not a camping resort or caravan park

Now if I could only find this perfect place!

What would you call your perfect camping location?

My perfect location and requirements would be....

level grassy unstructured site
shady in summer...sunny in winter
quiet but with some passing traffic to give me something to look at
water views
lots of different wildlife for me to photograph
free toilets and showers...so I don't have to put mine up
someone else to do the cooking
no smokers
peaceful and tranquil
pet friendly
free
close to home
great sunsets & sunrises
perfect weather...cool days and cooler nights
lots of free wood for a campfire
endless time.......not have to be home at a certain time

Still DREAMING.....

Remote
near water (although not important)
Flat and grassy
Free
pets allowed
campfire
with friends
lots of good places to explore

The Long Weekend at Dingo Dell was pretty close.

Beautiful drive there and back (quiet back roads preferred)
Right on the water, beach or river
Nice views
Shade trees in summer
Flat and grassy
Wildlife
No other campers nearby
Friends who enjoy camping as much as we do, including kids for my daughter to play with
No passing traffic
No traffic or other motor noise
Campfires allowed and good firewood provided
Shop within 30 minutes drive if we stay for longer than a couple of days
Ice available
Nice walking track/s

OK Gypsy here it goes....

Waterfront (preferably river or lake & fresh water)
Level grassy site
nice swimming area (in summer months)
campfire (winter months)
No motorbikes
No noisy Generators
No caravan air-conditioner/heater droaning noises during the night. (pet hate of mine)
Amenities (if longer than 2 nights or during winter)
Friends
Other friendly campers
Nice view/outlook
free
pet-friendly
great countryside with walks and things for the kids to explore

The list could be endless...... We like to go somewhere different each trip.

I just knew you could do it XB....thanks for not letting me down.

BTW.....I like the 'free' happy hour idea....would work well with my 'someone else to do the cooking'.....
