Good Luck GollyGee.

I am curious about Wilsons Prom as to why is it so popular.
Can you camp somewhere else in the NP or is there just this one spot.I have heard of another camp site Bear Gully?,would this be worth camping at.
Are there any recommended camp sites in that area.

Is Wilsons Prom very busy during the cooler months.

We would love to go on a road trip to Victoria next year and i keep hearing about Tidal River.

Would love to travel down the coast route.

Because it's a beautiful place, great scenery spectacular views,
great walks, great beaches (not swim safe).
Tidal River/Norman Beach = safe swimming.

Tidal River is the only car based camping area.
There are several walk in overnight hiking camp areas.
If you are fit and have light weight gear the camp areas on the other
side of the prom (eg Sealers Cove, Refuge Cove) and the views along the way are fantastic.
There's also the Lighthouse where you can stay, a days walk from Tidal River.

I have heard of another camp site Bear Gully?,would this be worth camping at.

Bear Gully camp area is in Cape Liptrap Coastal Park, run by Parks Victoria
We missed out on a spot there when we went down there on Australia Day weekend
Its pretty basic bush camping with toilet available and a Ranger on site during the warmer months.
There is no fee for camping, but its first in first served and I wouldnt take anything larger than a
Camper trailer or Avan in there as camping is mostly amongst the Ti Trees
It's still a bit of a drive to Wilsons Prom, but close enough for day trips.

Is Wilsons Prom very busy during the cooler months.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting a camp site in the cooler months
although best to check ahead in School holidays and Long weekends

*does happy dance around the room* Trip on! Woohooo!

Titch I'd heard horror stories about peak period - queuing hours for a shower sorta thing, but have never experienced any of it. Nor met any ferals. I suspect there are two different ends and the party people head for the beach side, while the families go for the river/playground side. I think numbers might be down since the fires too.

Anyways, I'm stoked. Such a great way to wrap up the year!

Here's some more pics for SN.

I love the Prom because it's beautiful and there's something for everyone. It's an easy place to camp with a group as there's stacks to do for all different levels. Tidal River is sandy & shallow and great for kids. Norman beach is the same and is gorgeous with Mt Oberon as the backdrop. There are walks for all levels - one couple in our group walk to the lighthouse and stay overnight, I usually take my young daughter up Mt Oberon, to Squeaky Beach, Little Oberon Bay & Lilly Pilly Gully.

During peak times there are extra activities for the kids - ranger talks on marine life, spotlighting, bedtime stories. They also run an outdoor cinema which is very popular.

If you could have an open fire it'd be super perfect, but no fires are allowed.
