Or in my Dad's case "fishing" - the response usually went like this: "Gee Keith, you shoulda been here last week - the whiting were really biting then".

And this is usually the point where I start worrying. The forecast for the weekend seems to get worse the closer we get to it. It still says only showers, but if it gets worse, it may just be too wet to go.

I can cope with some rain during the day, but it's night time that's an issue. It's way too cold to not sit by the fire!

So I really should've stopped looking a couple of days ago! Because it will probably be ok as usual. Mind you, this is the first time we go camping in winter and have that added pressure of needing the fire to keep warm.

On our recent trip to Inskip I to kept watching the long range weather report & it didn't look good. We got wet on the trip there & copped a few sprinkles on the way home but the entire time we were there it was absolutely perfect. Sometimes I think you just have to take a chance & if it is overcast or does rain it is usually a bit warmer anyway.

We are to Canungra in two weeks & I'm expecting it to be freezing then but I am still looking forward to it. Like you I am worried it will rain but it won't stop me, might just mean I spend most of the time under the blankets in bed reading :***
It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

You're right of course, about taking a chance. And I've always been pretty lucky doing that. Except for one Easter when it poured with rain 3 out of the 4 days and I had an absolutely miserable time with a very bored 3 year old.

Wet bored kids in a tent is a nightmare in it's self but add a wet smelly dog to the mix and you have to wonder if it was worth setting up at all.

Have done that a couple of times and wouldn't do it again.

My hubby is nicknamed "One Cloud" for his ability to predict it's going to be just a little drizzle and we end up getting the mother of all storms.... and it's not just a once off thing either???

Oh yes, we have the wet dog as well. Who hates rain and cold and loves lying on our bed! That Easter trip my daughter decided that going to the toilet for number ones was not cool anymore too and we ran out of clean clothes after the first 24 hours. So I was trying to dry clothes and had no tarp.

At least this time we'll have a decent tarp.

And currently the temp forecasts for Sunday is 13-18! That will feel sooooo warm after -5 to 8 here.
