Fly up and hire a car and accommodation. We do not need beach.
Any Ideas out there,? in amongst the collective members.
Ideas welcome from all.

What theme parks are at the Sunshine Coast? I'm guessing that Steve Irwin's place is up that way but I can't think of anything else?

LOL

I've only stayed at the Gold Coast twice, once for a weekend away while staying with my mum in Brisbane, and the other time with work, so I can't really offer much advice except that for the private trip, we booked a serviced apartment through RACQ and I'm sure it was comparable in price to a motel but with a LOT more space and comfort.

Titch...If you are coming to 'Godszone'' (..ha,thats our side...Sunshine Coast)....I'd look at the difference in costs to fly into Marochydore(sp).....Visitors to our great State don't realize when they talk Brisbane / Surfers... in the same breath that they are about 100km apart...then another 100km up to the Sunshine coast (well,,,,nearly)....easier just to fly direct to Marochydore...especially if you are on a time limit....gotta admit...we don't have as much action as Surfers...But we do have clean beachs, less violance, better weather...nicer drives...costs are down...etc etc

****We need a week away !!!!...Didn't you just have aweek away on a house boat ???****

Will have to catch-up with the crew for a beersssss

Brisbane is the more central.....Will you be bring young ones with you (be sides vonnie).....???
Those parks will strip you of your beer $$$$ before you know what hit you.....

If your main reason is to do those parks,,,,Then I would suggest a fly into surfers

(I just looked on the net....I SEE YOU HAVE ALREADY BOOKED...LOL

You'd fly into Coolangatta airport but I don't know if they have any direct flights and if so how many.

Hi Titch,

I have family that stayed in cabins at a Caravan Park at Eight Mile Plains on the south side of Brisbane and travelled down to the theme parks from there.

I can't remember the name of the CP they stayed at but they were really happy with their accomodation for the price paid.

Might be cheaper than staying on the GC.

It was a straight drive from where they stayed to the theme parks.

We went to Dreamworld last January and loved it.

Just for Theme Park FYI. You can get a three park pass that would include Movie World, Sea World and Wet and Wild. Otherwise you can get a two park pass for Dreamworld and White Water World. Certainly saves you some beer dollars if you do it that way.

Dependant on when you are heading up, a lot of accomodation places offer cheap deals for theme parks etc to get you to stay at their establishments.

Google is definitely your friend in this respect to find the best deal.
