A place to go

Postby RYAINS » Mon Aug 09, 2010 11:48 pm

G'day all,

It's been soooooo long since I've posted - or checked in.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere for my family and I to go in the Christmas holidays please..? I'd really love to go to a place where there's heaps to do for all the family; I have a 12 year old boy and a 9 year old daughter so some place where they do heaps of activities with or for the kids. Ideally it would be on the beach and maybe even have a river close by to throw the tinny in and take the kids fishing.

We usually travel south every year but have never really found a place that we say we'd love to go back to next year. I live in Sydney but I'm prepared to travel North or south willing to drive 6 hours or more to give my family a great holiday that they remember for the right reasons.

Thanks heaps,
Geoff
Can't wait for next summer!.... or a camp trailer :-)

Welcome back RYAINS

We usually go away in our Campertrailer every Xmas with our 3 kids (17,15 & 12) for a week starting from boxing day and the last two years we have been to these two spots and would love to go back to both again. You might have trouble trying to get a spot though as they fill up pretty quick from about May onwards and you usually have to stay 7 nights. The beach spots (if you are looking to go) will be even harder to get.

We loved SWAN HILL. The big 4 we stayed in had pedal cart races for the kids with prizes, movie nights, tennis court, pool our kids loved it there and the town was lovely. The town is on the Murray River and our girls caught two fish from fishing on the banks and hubby wished he bought the boat. Pioneer museum was also great. Paddle steamer ride was also great fun. We want to go back again.

DENILIQUIN was another big 4 we stayed in and we had a powered site right on the river. The only critisism would be that the powered and camping sites at the back of the park would have been really hot, so I would only camp on a riverfront site there. Lovely park with big outdoor movie screen that they moved around the park every second night and also had movies in the function room every day. The town was also nice...not as much to do as in Swan Hill but nice. The park also had a pool, tennis court, jumping pillow.

Two of our favourites so far. :armsup

G'day Geoff
Try this place, good caravan/camping park. Yamba is a great spot. Lots of beaches, lots of fishing, (without a boat).
We went here many times when the kids were young & all had a great time.
It is about 9 hours from Sydney but worth the trip.

yeah i have been around that area and thought it was pretty good, we camped at Black Rocks. Not sure if Black Rock would be that entertaining for kids, but the Yamba area looked nice when we visited.

I'd also suggest Coffs Habour, in particular Moonee Beach.
