20k south of there is a free one at the Boyne River with all amenities. We live at the Kin Kora Caravan park 25k east of the Calliope River in Gladstone. :cheers

Yes GypsyLady, I had a friend (Col the Cabbie) stay there last Tuesday night before he found where we are. He said a good spot with nice people but a tad noisy, till he put ear plugs in and went to sleep. :cheers

Many of the 'free' campsites are filled with nice people Dave, at least that is what I find generally in my travels.

Often you are barely set up and someone is over to chat with you.

Went for a day trip to Shute Harbour. Very pretty harbour but would loved to have seen it before it was developed.

The colour of the water is magical.

Ha, ha Rosco.....so very pleased to hear that I occupy your thoughts at 2:53AM.....don't know why he was not in hibernation.......never thought to ask him.

I suspect it is because the weather up here is much warmer and they are cutting cane all around the place, so maybe his hibernating space was disturbed.

Yes Shute Harbour out from Airlie Beach and no have not moved on yet just went for a day trip which you would have seen if you READ my post.

My point is,
 I have only been bitten (non Venomous ) by a snake I owned, never by a snake in the scrub.
But I have been bitten, by many spiders.
I would rather touch a snake.
Cheers old man.
