New and a little lost.

Hey,
My name is talya and I have recently moved to Melbourne from Sydney.
I used to do a lot of camping as a child, mostly along the Murray River.
However, I am not very well informed on camping opportunities throughout the rest of Victoria.
I have so far been down along the Great Ocean Road and camped for a few days in Apollo Bay during the 45+ degree days in February.
My partner Dean is big on fishing, so I have been trying to find a great spot to get away to in the next few weeks where he can fish and drink beer and relax.
We're not big on amenities, but a couple shops nearby would be good.
Still trawling through the hundreds of posts, but any information that could give me a hand would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Google the 90 mile beach,Golden beach area.
Drop dunnys, drive into town for basic items. hot paid showers in town.
Very sheltered camp areas,in the dunes.camp fires ok .
Around 2.5 hours.
When the fire areas recover much more is around.

Hi Talya and welcome to the forum.

If hubby is into trout fishing then there are a few nice places along the Omeo Road in the Alpine National Park. I visited them a couple of years ago and recorded it on my website http://www.aussiecampovencook.com/alpin ... alpark.htm

Cheers for the advice guys.
By the way, Derek... I had a look at your camp oven site...
Very useful.
I use cast iron camp frypans at home and my next purchase is most definitely a camp oven.
Found the recipes very interesting.
A beautifully put together site... Thank you.

Talya.

Hi Talya,

:hello:

Welcome to the forum, as you have found already there is a lot of info here.
I am from Vic too and we have camped many times on the Murray or nearby. The National Parks like the Grampians are certainly worth a visit, plenty of beaches but get busy in summer and harder to find a place to camp.

Happy Camping

Cheers Tina

Welcome to the forum. The Gippsland area has a lot of lovely spots which provide for the fisherman. Mrs B and I are going to Mallacoota for a couple of weeks after the school holidays.

This is an old thread and I doubt Talya is still here......People seem to come and go pretty quickly around here.
