Camp cooking.

Hi guys.

firstly hi all, I am an avid 4wder that has been camping for some time. over the last 18 months this has changed from two mates roughing it to two families with kids.

Said enjoys his cooking but now I have to admit Camp cooking is starting to become a bit of an unofficial compeetition so I thought I would sneak over here and steal some cooking ideas. :$ Shhh.

first Q; I found a good recipe for roast pork that says to use cast iron dutch oven. would this be the same as using a camp oven?

second Q: any good/different ideas for camp cooking? I have a frying pan (but no lid) and a big Wok ideal for the camp fire, I am just about to get a camp oven.
4wder with a young family.

I am quickly learning I need lots more storage when camping with a tribe.

Hi Nevyn and welcome to the site. Cast iron camp ovens are the same as dutch ovens. In the USA they call them dutch ovens for some reason.

Nevyn ,
And if you want to win the vote, cook a sweet dessert in the camp oven like sweet dumplings and custard , your mate will have no chance the kids and the ladies will get your vote .

Its funny - when I was growing up we always called it a dutch oven. It wasnt until recently (last 2 or so years) that I started to hear them get called a camp oven!

But I concur read dereks site. Get heaps of ideas.
Then your next mission is who can have the best kitchen ;)
Speaking of which - wheres Jeeps? havent seen him around recently...
