Samurai Beach (newcastle NSW)!!!

We need an emoticon for Shudder.

Anyway. I headed up that way expecting to be able to drive right up close to nine mile beach (or is it one mile? I forgot already), and camp there. Anyway. Things have changed a bit in 10 years. There's caravan parks and fences and stuff  So I ask this feller there going surfing with his kid, if there's anywhere we can camp on/near the beach. He said next one up... samurai, but assures me there's rarely any people there.... well, umm.... nekid, seein as its a 'clothing optional' beach

Anyway, he was wrong. A few came and left and didn't stay long thankfully. Seemed like popular beach for surfers though, there were a few out every morning. Anyway, enough talk, here's the pics:

Tried to take some long exposure ones, no tripod tho so a bit blury

This one came out great I think.

My camp oven, about to do its first roast (beef)

And a whale that came out for a play on the last day.

Left the roast in for about 5 hrs, woops. Came out very dry but still nice enough to eat. Just had to soak it in some of its juices

Mozziese where INSANE. I counted 60+ bites on my right arm, was using it to try and keep them out of the swag. Used a mozzie net after the 1st night and a few litres of aeroguard.

Errrm, no. Besides the obvious reasons, the thought of nudidity and mosquito's, jelly fish, crabs, blue ring octopuses' and other nasties that lurk around the beach, just doesn't appeal.
