Hi, I am considering camping over Easter at Riverwood Downs near Barrington Tops. Has anybody ever stayed there before? If so can you comment on what it was like? I have camped inside the NP before at Gloucestor Tops but I now have a 9 month old baby so am looking for a few more creature comforts Thanks for any advice Outdoormum
We camped up there in the school holidays. It rained pretty much everyday but the huge shed they have there is great. I suggest you give camping by the river a huge miss, all the sites are right on top of each other and most are slopping slightly and the road is about 2 feet of your tent. We camped up the back paddock away from everybody which suits us (wife, 2 girls and a dog).
The facilities are excelant. They have a restaurant (bit pricy) theres also a kiosk. The main shed is set up like an old wool shed with an indoor tennis court 2 free pool tables, table tennis and a bar for mum and dad, drinks are pub prices.
The swimming hole is pretty safe and the people who run it are friendly.
If you have google earth you can see it all there
32 16 59 62 - 151 51 03 87 is the main reception restaurant and entertainment shed
32 17 02 82 - 151 50 58 09 is the swimming hole
32 16 57 67 - 151 51 16 14 is an amenities block
32 16 53 46 - 151 51 16 14 is paddock camping
The riverside camping dosnt mean you have easy access to the river, most are 6 feet above the river with no bank to speak of.
This topic is perfect for me...We off to Barrington last week of Feb This place looks pretty good,we doing some National park camping for 10days before Barrington so some amenties would be nice for our last leg of our trip.. Does anyone no if this is pretty close to exploring the rest of Barrington??? If anyone else has some good info on the area would be muchly appreciated..
I dont think RD would be a good base, from memory its a bit from the tops, I dont think there was a direct route there. If you want somewhere to explore the barringtons you might want to try Poleys place. Poleys is at the base of the barringtons near Gloucester. Has hot showers and toilets.
