Hi...

Postby embi » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:08 am

...My wife found this site and told me about it.

We love camping and since buying a camper trailer we have been doing heaps more.

My wife is a 5 Star hotel girl so I have been adding all the little luxury's to our camp kit so that now she loves going camping.

We have a 13month old daughter who first went camping at 10 weeks old and has now been camping a heap of times.

We are off to Tassie with about 12 other 4WD's in March and have started planning a trip along the Oodnadatta Track in Oct this year.

I'm a qualified chef and my mates keep telling me I should write a modern camp oven cookbook. Its something I'll consider when I master the camp oven a little better...

I've actually started using heatbeads (thanks Derek for the idea) and they are giving me much more control over the oven.

So expect me to be having many posts here in the future.

Looking forward to hearing what you've been cooking in the camp oven.

As i type I have some bread in the camp oven testing out the heat beads again.

Here's some pics from awhile ago.

We did a trip to the High Country so I tested a few ideas with the camp oven.

I made bread but we ate it before I took a pic of the final product. If you look through the hole in the ring you can see
another loaf in the bottom.

I dont use the hillbilly as much now though.

Any other recipe ideas out there??

Welcome aboard Embi by the look of some of those dishes I think we need to get you and Derek together for a camping cook off. I'll put my hand up to be one of the judges...

We'll have to organise one in Victoria or NSW sooner or later.

:hello:
The admin guy.

Thank heavens Derek is moving to Qld and I think you should start planning a trip north too Embi.

I can see the plans for a camp oven gathering already!!
