Adder Rock Camping Ground.

Spent many years coming to this camping ground from 1973, many changes have occured there since then. Still a beautiful place, great access to the beach. Unfortunately the camping ground is now not free camping but very much your usual 6m X 6m space. Can get very crowded in peak periods, uncomfortably so. Amenities are very good including coin operated hot showers and laundry.

We were there in January this year for two weeks and even though it was busy we never waited for a shower, and the water was always hot. Watch out if it rains though, the drainage is sub-standard to the point where, as many sites are low-lying, quite a number of sites were 2ft underwater after a downpour. Love Straddie and Adder Rock, a great place to holiday.

We have also been there when heavy rain has occured and watched to the water running through tents , big cleanup afterwards and most go home. A great spot in queensland is Straddie, but avoid schoolies week and peak times.

adder rock is nice but i prefer flinders beach,as you need a 4wd you dont get all the young hoons but during the school holidays it does get a little bit busy, but you can still find a good camp spot with plenty of shade.
