Glendon 4wd/Fish/Camp August 11-13/08/06

Postby stevo. » Mon Jul 17, 2006 1:30 pm

I'm going to this place called Glendon, August 11-13/8/06

Glendons website: http://www.glendoncamping.com.au/

We are planning on taking the friday off and getting there mid morning, setting up camp, then off to the dam for some fishing. Apparently it's the largest dam in the region. We're not very good at fishing but thought we'd give it a crack. Anyone is welcome to join us for this weekend.. unless you're a drinking driving junkie littering axe murderer. We will be drinking and raving crap around the fire at night so i guess religious people might get offended too, but we can be well behaved if we need to be.

There's more details here http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=70

but i will check this thread and reply to any questions.

$12 per campsite for night (includes two adults)

$5 for a wheelbarrow load of fire wood

No arrivals after 8pm or before 7.30am (so not to disturb anyone)

Departure times are by 12.30pm

PS. $36 for a powered van per night (has own bbq/fireplace beside each van)

Hey Steve do you know if there is any water in the dam at the moment?
The 4x4ing photos taken at Glendon don't show much so I guess it's pretty basic tracks but it looks great place to take the trail bike & the cold weather should make for pleasant riding, If I'm the only one riding out there it wont be to dusty either  I'll have to give this some more thought

yeah i rang them and they said there was plenty of water in the dam.

There's not a lot of 4wd tracks, but is some. There wasn't much last time i was there but managed to break the front diff in my hilux on one of them :(

They said they have had a few clubs there and they made some new 4wd tracks.

Sorry the date is so close to your Condimine Gorge trip Barby Q, we've just had it planned for a while so i thought i'd stick it in here anyway.

I plan on coming on your trip, as long as my zook doesn't burst in to flames on this camp

I'll be there Image

If the dam is full I will just be sitting on the bank fishing all weekend. Need to get away and just relax. Won't be driving around as I intend of having one or two quiet ales

You bringing the canoe Steve?

Hrm, i was going to take the zook so can't take the canoe, did you want to use it? You really really don't want to go swimming in the dam, someone fell out of the canoe last time and found about 2 foot under the surface was about minus 20 degrees, they turned a bit blue

Got my work half year party on at the Hammo on Friday night. Free booze but with people I can hardly stand working with let alone drinking with.

HMMMM? camping or getting drunk on free booze? I'll take the camping I think. Lot less hassles.
