Adjustable legs for Camper trailer kitchen

Postby neil_cricket » Sun Apr 13, 2008 3:12 pm

Hi
I'm looking at designing my own camper trailer kitchen, it'll probably be a pull out one and I was looking at idea's on what to use for legs, I'd want them to be adjustable for uneven ground. Any idea's would be great :)

Thanks

Probably the most simplest and practical is two cut down tent poles, the larger diameter ends secured to the end or side of the kitchen with metal conduit saddles, the other end well that sits on the ground.
Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.

I have to agree that is definitely the simplest and easiest option.

I made something similar to support my 50kg tailgate recently.

I'll get a couple of pics if you like.

Can be as simple as you want it to be. Simplest form would be two square steel sections that telescopically fit together and a few holes you can put a bolt through.
Or even weld a nut to the outside square section and you simply lock off wherever you need it.

That'd be great if you can post some pictures :)

Another way you can make legs is by using some square tubing and drill hole in the spot needed and weld a nut onto main leg and bolt screws in against the other tube that slides up inside the larger bit of square tubing. you could make up a frame for the kitchen to sit on with the legs being able to fold up under and still have ajustable legs.

Appologies for the delay, but as promised, pics.

If you drill two holes on the outer tube, 1.5 times the distance of the holes of the inner tube, it'll give you double the 'adjustability' that you would have with only the one outer hole.

I used the legs from those cheap saw horses from Supercheap or Bunnings, they already have a swivel point, so all you need to do is cut them to length and use a tent pole to slide up inside of them, the things that are used to adjust tent poles are available from any camping store and are very easy to fit, it's basicly one hole to be drilled.

I made two sets of legs in 20mins and the saw horses are/were $6.95 each, i already had some spare tent poles.
