Wheelchair Camping

Postby Bushmike » Fri Apr 21, 2006 2:27 pm

That depends on the reason the person is in a wheelchair and the type of wheelchair. Email me to discuss this further. I have several years experiance taking a high level quadreplegic camping.

It's good fun until the electric wheelchair gets bogged or the batteries go flat

This is a very wide and broad topic..... Our daughter has very high dependency needs and is wheelchair bound and %100 dependent on us... she goes everywhere with us and over the years... it's become where can we go not where can't we go... Our little camping outfit which all fits in the trailer pictured below, ( it has a fully enclosed top on it these days) has beds, gennie, heaters, fans, camp oven's galore, lighting, gas cooking and so on... and bikes and wheelchair.. Image
Probably our most favourite place is the Carlo Point Camping ground (Rainbow Beach QLD) ameneties, pets, open fires.. and disabled facilties... can't say enough good things about it..

Would any of the quadraplegic/ paraplegic organisations have any info? I'm assuming you haven't tried them.

Cheers ...
