Island Reach is great for the kids Daniel but a lot of it is on sloping grounds.

You could set up camp up the top near to the entry on the right had side of the amenities block as you go in. That area is pretty level.

Attached are some pics to give you an idea, and yes it really is that green.

Must be 20 years since I last camped at Island Reach. My youngest daughter was just a toddler and shes 24 now.

Still looks the same from those pics.

Those 2 are 2 years old Derek, the ones I have from xmas time are on the computer at home but you are right, it looks no different.

Even the amenities block is still the same except for a lick of paint and it is only a lick too I might add.

Heard a story at xmas time where the current owners applied for permission to build a new amantities block and the permission was denied. Not sure how much truth there is to the story because there have been no other improvements.

The washing machine died whilst I was there and it took them a few days to replace it....with a secondhand one. The replacement came with a dryer attached and the dryer was just disconnected because they could not run it due to some different voltage. It was 3 phase or something similar.

It seems to me that everything is done 'on the cheap' which is disappointing when it is such a lovely campground and has heaps of potential.

One thing I especially like about it is the lack of commercialism, it is still a campground not a CP.

Yes Daniel, there is limited power available and it is mainly up near the amenities block and the camp kitchen area. Mind you it is a very basic camp kitchen, BBQs only and locked fridge.

I did try and post some more pics but they are all way too big. Will try and give it some attention on the weekend and reduce the sizes if possible and post some more for you.

The water was very attractive at xmas time and yes probably higher than when the first pics were taken 2 years ago.

Cheers....

It is always very pretty and always very green. The amenities block struggles a bit in very busy times but other than that it is great and cheap too.

Think it is about $6.00 p/a/p/n unpowered. It is definitely one place I would not hesitate to go back to.

well we went for a little drive to have a look at this site and the others around the area, and hands down this one wins (thanks to gypsy) it has the best "feel" the only place the owner would come and talk to us, and was happy to answer any questions we had (newbie friendly) we have booked in for the end of this month, and very much looking forward to it - camp report to follow.

Yes I did and last xmas it was busier than usual because of the rain, lots of people ended up coming there instead of the coast.

In saying that though it did not present us with any problems. The xmas to just before New Year is normally reasonably quiet in comparison to the rest of the holiday period.
