All,

Just got back from an overnight Fishing trip with a couple of mates to Lake Eucumbene to catch my first ever Trout. It was a good night though pretty cold which meant a large fire to keep warm. We went in at Seven Gates road and camped on the bank of the lake in close proximity to the water (back 50m or so as to not scare the fish away). Well it proved fruitful as the pictures showed. Plan is to go back in two weeks to try our luck again....Awesome trip....

Hi Teabag,

Thanks for the pictures, very nice indeed. Would love to hear more about your solar setup you have there. I see its 2 x 50W panels, any other gear you need/have or recommend with solar setups? i assume you're suing to charge a 100a/h battery?

Ben,

Yes, it is a twin 50watt solar set up. Below is a post I made on another forum wrt Solar set-up, hope this helps....Feel free to ask any further questions as I have had this set-up for over 5 years now.......

Now my set up in the Kimberley has 6 x 35amp/hr AGM batteries giving me a total of 210amp/hrs. This alone without solar will run my 40ltr Engel and lighting for a min. of 5 days (high ambient temp.). So if you have a bad day with the sun it doesn't really matter as you have time to catch up.....The trick to solar is go beyond what you need. For instance to run the Engel and lights I could get away with one 50watt panel and meet my power requirements but if there is a bad day or two I may need to do a little catch up hence my set up (which is portable) is 2 x 50 watt panels.......

So, if you set your solar setup correctly with say 2 x 100amp/hr AGMs or Deep Cycle batteries and say 2 x 50watt panels (with 10amp solar regulator) as min. you won't have any issues, even with a few bad days of sun IMO........
