What is your opinion on this?

Postby narlydude » Sun Oct 12, 2008 4:55 pm

Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, I have been camping in the UK and now here in a tent, we carry everything in a trailer so thought the logical step would be to get a camper trailer. We had a trailer tent in the UK - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/articles/view.asp?id=130 The link is to a review I wrote for a UK website and the pictures were my tent and kids! I have got a Jeep Wrangler so thought I would look at an off-road version.

I have been looking on ebay and found these from Market Direct listed on ebay,
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-4X4-OFF-ROAD ... dZViewItem

Most have been selling for around or just under $4000 and with delivery & all the extras would cost about $7000. Are they worth it or am I better off getting something local?

Any recomendations? I live near Perth, where is the best place to look/buy one.

Any help/comments welcome

Thanks

for that much I'd want to see in person exactly what I was getting, bit that's just me.

Since you know what they sell for, have a look at local ones to see if there's anything comparable.

Idealy I would prefer to buy local, but unfortunatley my finances may prevent this (I am looking at local made campers) as nothing seems to be able to compete with this price (even with delivery etc added on).

That is why I wanted peoples opinions of the ebay camper trailer - is it as good as it looks or am I better holding on and saving my pennies? The feedback on the camper on ebay appears pretty good (I know it is only one line!)

thanks

Mark

As long as you realise this bit!!

Please note:

Certain images in this add may depict options that are not included in this auction, however additional options are able to be purchased as additional options. Please see towards the end of this add for information on how to purchase additional options. Items NOT covered in this auction include

Toolbox
Spare Wheel
Water Tank, Pump Tap and Lockable Filler
Kitchenette (Includes Stainless Steel Sink + Dish Drainer, Shelving, 2 Burner Stove + Grill, 4 kg Gas Bottle + Gas Line)

Also it doesn't have an offroad hitch (it's a ball hitch) the rear tail lights are too low, the canvas is poly cotton not full cotton canvas also the roof should be ripstop 15oz canvas not 13oz.

Just be aware of these things, look around for a good second hand campertrailer, most will be around the $7000 too $9000 mark, the good thing about this option is they will already be setup for camping, so only minor mods will be needed too suit your needs.

Just my 2 cents (pence) worth.

Baz.

PS It also doesn't have brakes, this is a must have for an offroad camper trailer.

There was a mob in Perth selling on Ebay when I was looking who did a nice camper and at a reasonable price. Maybe just keep looking for a while if you have the time.
I sold a pretty decent second hand one a few months back for $1000.
