Alice Springs-Darwin-Kakadu-Broome-Perth Trip!

Postby HannahF » Thu Oct 09, 2008 3:41 pm

I am planning on going on the above trip from Feb 09, and we're planning on camping for most or all of it. Is there a website or info on the NP campsites which are quieter and not as expensive? Also what is the rule in respect to just camping in a remote area. Is this allowed or recommended for safety?

If anyone can give me some tips then that would be great!

Thanks

Hannah :)

i cant give you much info
But i was in Alice Springs (Ulrau, kings canyon, the olgars, and western macdonald rangers) just last month and we did camping in swags.
We were on a tour tho, so i have no idea about prices
or were exactly we were.
But there are heaps of places around. More if you have a 4wd.
Be prepared for heart.
Fuel is heaps more expensive.
Water is available everywhere but its bore water so a fair bit of it is a bit iffy to drink. So just make sure
you have some with you.
But you'll have an awsome time

I suggest you review the weather patterns for when you are planning your trip. Do you want to be there when the Monsoons are there?

yes, the timing is not the usual period for such a jaunt.

http://www.nlandgl.com/roundOz/ is our similar trek that might give you some ideas.
