Andrew Drynan Park - Weather? Bugs?

Postby kalouise » Tue Oct 07, 2008 10:28 pm

Hello,

Has anyone been to Andrew Drynan Park in the summer? We've got 2 little ones and are keen to avoid ticks etc. with them... I think it is next to a creek? swimmable?

Thanks!

I have camped there many times in the summer months and flies and mossies are probably pretty much the same there as anywhere in summer.

There is a creek and whilst I would not call it swimable as such it is suitable for youngsters to sit and play in and there is a small almost sandy access across the road for easy entry for the littlies. The water is often quite cool.

I have not heard of anyone picking up any ticks there but it does not hurt to be diligent in that area.

Whilst I have dogs I have never had them down near the water either.

Cheers....

It is definitely one of my very favourite campgrounds and I try and get out there at least once or twice a year.

I am sure you will enjoy it.

we just got back from our 2nd visit to Andrew Drynan this year, its definitely a favourite for us

both times we have been (easter this year, and now spring) we had little one's, dogs and adults wading through the "stream" and didnt encounter any ticks

not sure about mozzies in summer but i only spotted one mozzie all weekend

and the place is definitely a lot nicer when its nearly empty, we got there friday morning and had the pick of spots

great weekend, great spot!
