My head hurts..... too many ideas.

Postby New_to_this » Tue Oct 14, 2008 10:51 pm

My head is so full right now its ridiculous.
This site has so many different opinions on places
that it is almost making it harder for me to choose somewhere.
So i think i'll let you all do it for me. Tell me where i should go (in a nice way  )

Ok so there will defiantly be me, my fianace and his 5yr old daughter.
We may have a couple more people tag along it depends.

We will be camping in tents (will borrow until we decide what we want)

Want to be way from most people so thinking of heading into the mountains (but we will only be 2WD
drive that being said, if this is an impossible ask then if i start working on mum now by the time comes
she will probably lend me the land cruiser)

We are heading out on the 27th of Dec and will return around the 1st or 2nd of Jan (busy time i know) :cheers

We are in Gippsland Victoria. So anywhere in Vic is good.

Not too fussed about showers but have decided that a toilet it a must for 5yr old (any type not fussed) :booty

And being near some form of water would be awesome. ::)

So if anyone knows of a place that fits this description your recommendations would be most welcome
because right now i have no idea and FH is very unhelpful. He just wants to get in the car and go.
But given we only have a week i would like a place to go to.

Thanks in advance know at least one person will tell me where to go :***

At the end of the day you are going to have to decide. Most people will not say "you should go to ...." because we are all different and like different things and depending on the time of year, the weather and who else in the campground each person comes away with a different opinion on a campground. You do need to look at different threads, search the internet, read books and magazines and in the end make a decision and do it.

I know i have searched the threads and thats the problem too many good ideas.
I want to people to tell me where they would go.
And i thought that i did give a pretty good description of what i want.
Now its just finding something that fits the bill.
Maybe i'll have to start a trust excel sped sheet to work it all out.

Mate have a look at this, this is the Land Rover Club (ACT) Website, click on Campground Corner in the menu on the left, then in the state you want, scroll through the campsites, you'll notice there is a car for 2WD access and a 4B as 4WD access, it shows if there are toilets, pet friendly and so on, even has GPS co-ords.

Look at Wilson's Promontory. Mountains, water, beaches, nice camping grounds at several locations, lots of stuff for kids, not far to travel, 4WD not necessary. Tidal River would be my pick but it may be difficult to get e space now. Worth a look though.

Good website Redback.
Tho lacking in some information. Do you reckon its worth the $25 to buy the cd to get more info?

But for now i have started my spread sheet. I am addicted to putting everything in a spread sheet.

Yes it's worth it, we have the CD and we have found it invaluable, we paid 29.95 for ours when it first come out nearly 3 yrs ago, the book Camps Australia Wide is another good resource for info on campesites, Huts of the High Country is another.
