Howdy folks

Postby NPPajero » Sat Nov 15, 2008 10:23 pm

Hi folks, I am new here. Joiner with own workshop, so we are going to buy a 10 year old van or so, and refit it the way we want it. We have 5 kids, so we need plenty of sleeping areas. 21 - 24 ft I reckon. Anyone got any advice. Wanting to do a few big trips. We homeschool, and want to give our kids the best veiw of historical events by visiting the places.

Hi NPPajero and WELCOME to the forum. Love your plans for the children's education. Too many these days have no idea of our aussie heritage and what a way to learn about it.....on the road.

Congratulations on a great plan.

Cheers.....

Sounds a great idea. Fantastic experience for the kids (and you too)
Just be careful of weights. If you are towing with a Pajero you have a limit of 2500kg. Many vans in the size range you are looking at weigh that empty. With kids, clothes water food etc you will need to allow at least 400kg.
Happy travelling.

Thanks for the welcome, sorry for late reply, PC problems have plagued me for a while, and I have just sorted them out. Any one know of some good links to suppliers of caravan gear. Having problems getting a source of what we want.

Thanks again

G'day from another Nigel! Not that many of us around!

I've seen a van where the main bed folded up against the wall and gave a large area that would be good for kids to play in. Would add weight to build something that did that though.

Cheers, Nige

Yep Windsor do one and from what I saw with it I doubt there would be much weight added at all.
