Hi Gunna Do

Not sure that these are what you are after but here goes...

The welcome sign:

And the sign into our campsite:

We walked around to the other side of the river and I took a photo of the campsite from there. The blue Landcruiser is mine, as is the green tent:

The obligatory campsite pic:

Early morning shot of the mist rising off the river:

A little later or that morning:

The 'track' through the camp ground looking roughly south, towards Wombeyan Caves.

I think it is a pretty nice place, if a bit basic. The road in is fairly ordinary. Cokebottle's post about the River Island Naturist Retreat has a couple of pics of the road in and the scenery here viewtopic.php?f=62&t=3140 If you want to have a look at the wildlife pics give me a shout.

Jo&Kev,

Thanks for the Pics from your recent trip. Some great photos there, especially the mist on the river shot (award winning).

It was good to finally see some pics of the area we have heard so much banter about. Tks.

Look forward to seeing some more of future trips.

Thanks Gunna Do

I am lucky that I am normally an early riser, and my wife isn't. I get time to muck about with the camera while she has a sleep in. The location is a big help too.

I hope that the photos encourage a visit if folks are into this sort of camping. Forewarned about what's there, and what Brian could be like on a bad day by the others who visited, you can have a good time there I think.

Hello everyone!

They are lovely photos - Wollondilly looks lovely.

Has anyone else been there recently? I am off their for 5 nights over Easter with my boyfriend.
We are looking for somewhere relaxing and peaceful - I dont really like camp grounds where you sit on top of each other.

Has anyone been there recently?

Thanks! Kaz

My fiancee & I went to River Island Naturist Retreat in December, which is also on the Wollondily River.

Report here: http://forum.camping.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=3140

If you decide to go to River Island, you should be aware that it is clothing optional ;) :booty

Me and the wife have been to Wollondilly RS a few times in the past, and have enjoyed it immensly. We found Brian to be a little out there, but friendly enough. Had a chance to chat to him for a beer one day, and he was thinking of closing the place down, because so many people come in and expect more than what it is. A riverside campsite, not a caravan park. And also those people that come in thinking they own the place and make tonnes of noise pissed.

We moved from Sydney to Adelaide and was disappointed that we wouldn't be going there for some time. However next year we are back in Sydney and have already decided that we are going to camp there ASAP. It is pet friendly, cheap and away from the main stream. No phone reception, no power, just serenity. If you read the website and plan ahead, you should be able to have a great time.

Cheers

Hi everyone,

Well my boyfriend and I have just returned from Wollondilly and really enjoyed it!

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter (was meant to be 5 nights) but we left early due to the weather.

Wollondilly is really gorgeous. It was quite busy over Easter (as one would expect) but we still found it very peaceful.

The 25 km dirt road down there was a bit pot holey. Our subaru sedan only just survived. I would suggest that anyone thinking of going there, to take a 4WD!

Brian and Ina were friendly and helpful and we we were able to buy ice every day and fresh bread!

The caves nearby were awesome too!

Highly recommend Wollondilly if you like camping that is in the bush.

I will attach some photos!
