Camper trailer floor covering !! what is best ?

Postby lorichevy8 » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:03 pm

Hi just wondering what is a good floor lining for the inside of the trailer.
to protect hings while traveling.

Is there a need to tie things down inside your camper trailer when on long distance driving !!
mainly to stop any damage.

Also looking for good ideas to set up our new camper trailer for a long trip we have planned
in July 2009.

i have marine carpet in mine, that i can pull out and hose off or dust off at the end of the trip. I store all my gear in 3 large black plastic boxes (got them from super cheap auto) this keeps all the gear clean, and safe. Bedding in one, cooking in another, and food in the other.

I have rubber-backed (marine?) carpet in mine. Can pull it out and hose off or sweep out, but rarely have to. I have 5 plastic boxes ($8.98 at Bunnings) which fit with virtually no spare room so there is very little movement. Went on 7,000 km trip to Birdsville & Oodnadatta in August. No movement and no damage to anything inside the trailer.

Thanks for the reply's sounds like marine carpet is the way to go.
We bought a 100 ltr heavy duty esky/cooler, that should do for food.
dry ice tolerant.
I looked at the black plastic boxes, might have to go back and buy a couple.

thanks again guys.

Hi

I also used a good washable carpet. Mine stays in place with velcro. See the pics here http://www.aussiecampovencook.com/homeawayfromhome.htm

i dont run anything on the base of our camper

we also run the plastic box method, lidded boxes for linen and food, and open top boxes for anything else, chairs and all the loose stuff just gets thrown in and because its always full i never have any issue's with anything getting damaged
