Folding Trailer

Postby CampGrrlz » Tue Jan 06, 2009 5:33 pm

It's brain-pick time again ;-)

We'll need a trailer for the bulky items and we have only a single garage. After a lot of research (thank goodness for the internet! ) we've come to the conclusion that a folding box trailer would suit.

Now, there seems to be only one manufacturer on the planet, not surprisingly situated in the inscrutable orient ... there seems to be only one distributer in Australia, Carlex in Melbourne.

There's several Australian manufacturers of folding boat trailers but none are interested in making a folding box trailer.

What surprises us is that there is no state distributer and there are none for sale second-hand. Carlex are selling on eBay and have 45 units for sale on Trading Post.

We've failed to find any references on fora except for a couple of mentions on a street bike board from Perth, West Aus.

Does any camper know if there are any manufacturers in Australia of folding box trailers? Not the ones which sit on their end, beyond our strength and ceiling height to accommodate that.

Or failing the above ... anyone own an Easytrailer or know someone who does? Knowing something about the quality of construction, ruggedness and ease of use first hand would be a confidence-booster.

Thank you for all your help so far ::)

A couple of EasyTrailer owner reviews @ http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41187 Note the approx. 6 hrs to assemble on delivery.

How about a small trailer made for attaching to a motorcycle, or one for carrying a mobility scooter?
Eg. http://www.bandicoots.com.au/

Uh huh ... that's Carlex, the only (so far as I can see) retailer of folding trailers. They're imported from the mysterious East but from accounts I've read, they work well. Thank you for taking the time to research, it is much appreciated :armsup
