Boreen Point

Postby *HappyCamper* » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:00 pm

Has anyone been camping at Boreen Point or Elanda Point at Easter time? I spoke to the caretaker at Boreen Point today and he advised that they don't take reservations, it's a case of first in best dressed, you find a spot and if there's none left there's always Elanda Point which is quite large too. I've contacted that many campsites from Noosa to Byron Bay, with all of them booked out so I know that these places will be packed also but I just wanted to get a feel on previous years as to how packed they get as I don't want to pack the car and the kids and get there only to find that it's like sardines or nothing at all left.

Does anyone have any pics they could share of Boreen and/or Elanda Points?

If you can't get in to either of those I'd suggest Isalnd Reach at Imbil.

There's a SEQ group weekend to Boreen in February - we'll grab some photo's for you then. Any particular shots you're after?

Thanks Troyk, I was pretty much after pics like the ones that you posted... just to see what the place looked like, surely it wouldn't be too different from 5 years ago. I didn't realise the lake was that big! :)

Believe me, it looks exactly the same in 2009 as it did in 2004 - lovely!

I made referecne to 2004, because one of the photos showed the fees, and they would have gone up. ;)

The fees haven't changed too drastically in the last 5 years. Currently it's $14.50 per night for 2 people, with additional adults $7, additional kids $4.20 (interesting amount, why not just $4 and be done with it).

Comments deleted as they seem to refer to another park. Let me know if I'm wrong.

This is a beautiful spot but I would never return and I strongly advise people not to go here.

The park manager is incredibly rude and we were astounded that we could ever be spoken to in the way we were (especially by the older guy).

Please note that they lock the gate at 7pm. We got stuck in traffic and arrived at 830 - they woudn't let us in in spite of us calling to let them know we were going to be late - we almost had to beg someone to come and unlock the gate after a 4 hour journey.

We then tried to rent a canoe for the day - the old guy's response and I quote "do you stupid people ever take note of the weather" !!! We only wanted to go out for a few hours and we knew that the weather was going to turn bad bad this type of response is totally unacceptable.

These people need to remember that they are in the hospitality industry and a number of campers that we got to know echoed our sentiments - no wonder the place was mostly empty and unless they change their ways - they may well find that they only have themselves for company!!

There is another campsite down the road which is smaller but much better - I'd go there

I find it hard to believe you are referring to Boreen Point where the managers are wonderful, and they don't have a gate - did you mean Elanda Point? If so could you please edit your post to correct the error, as the way it stands you appear to be running down what is a very good establishment.

A number of members have been to Boreen Point over time and they only ever have good things to say about the place.
